Medal of Honor Recipient Kyle Carpenter- Class of 2008

Retired Marine Lance Corporal Kyle Carpenter was awarded the Medal of Honor in June 2014. Kyle is the eighth living recipient to be awarded the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions in Iraq. He and his family joined the President at the White House to commemorate his example of selfless service. Kyle’s humble spirit has blessed us all. He accepted this award for all past and present military members, for what they have done and continue to do for all of us and our freedom. In the words of Kyle, “It took a life-changing event to get me to truly appreciate the precious and amazing life I have been blessed with. Please take it from me, enjoy every day to the fullest, don’t take life too seriously, always try to make it count, appreciate the small and simple things, be kind and help others, let the ones you love always know you love them, and when things get hard trust there is a bigger plan and that you will be stronger for it.” We love you Kyle and greatly appreciate your service to our country. You and your journey have touched our lives forever!

After years of the public school system, we are so grateful to be at a school that is so much more than that. We are a family. "I teach at King Academy after being led by the Lord to do so, and what an amazing experience it has been. I have a long history with WKA as a student, parent and now a teacher. I have heard the phrase "King Family" many times, but it is truly a family. "In the spring of 2023 I was finishing my 11th year of teaching in public school. I was unhappy with my job and my 5 year old daughter was set to join me the next year as she was beginning kindergarten. A family member reached out and said WKA was hiring a 1st grade teacher. I was immediately interested! I prayed and asked God to work out all of the details if that was where our family was meant to be! Little did I know WKA also had a 3K class and my son could join my daughter and me! God worked out all of our needs! My two children and I have been at WKA for two years. We all love going to school every day! My children have thrived academically; they love learning thanks to their amazing teachers. As a teacher I feel supported by our administration, my co-workers and parents. We are so blessed to be a part of the WKA family!"
